DrakaShield Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
DrakaShield places great importance on the privacy and protection of its users’ information. This policy describes how information is processed in connection with the use of DrakaShield for Windows and its companion DrakaShield – Parental Control for Google Chrome.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the DrakaShield for Windows application and its parental control companion for Chrome.
It explains the information required for these products to operate, how that information is used, and how to contact DrakaShield about privacy.
2. Our approach
Information required for protection features, such as settings, scan results, and parental control rules, is processed and stored locally on the user's computer.
For license management, DrakaShield retains the customer's name and the IP address associated with the machine, as described in section 4.
3. Information processed by DrakaShield for Windows
To provide its security functions, DrakaShield may process the following locally on the computer:
- Protection settings selected by the user;
- Scan results and detected threats;
- Information about items placed in quarantine or marked as safe;
- Protection logs and reports;
- Parental control settings and rules;
- Information required to check the status of the threat database.
This information is used, in particular, to display protection status, review scan results, manage quarantine, and apply selected settings.
4. License purchases and management
When a customer purchases a DrakaShield license, we retain:
- The customer's name;
- The IP address associated with the machine used with the license.
This information is used to manage and verify license usage, including to prevent unauthorized use of a license on multiple machines.
It is retained for as long as necessary to manage and protect the license and to comply with applicable legal obligations.
5. Payment processing
Payments are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. Payment information is managed by Stripe in accordance with its own privacy and security practices.
Stripe may process information required for a transaction, such as payment, billing, and transaction information. For more information, see Stripe's Privacy Policy.
6. Updates and technical communications
DrakaShield may connect to remote services to check for and download updates required for the software to function, including updates to the threat database.
A connection to a remote service involves a technical exchange with that service. Depending on the service used, certain connection information, such as the IP address, may be processed by the receiving server or its hosting provider.
7. Chrome parental control companion
The DrakaShield – Parental Control companion applies domain rules configured in DrakaShield for Windows within Chrome.
The companion communicates with the DrakaShield component installed on the same computer to receive:
- The parental control status;
- The selected language;
- The list of configured domains.
It uses this information to create rules that Chrome applies to browsing requests. When a website matches a restriction rule, Chrome may block the request or display an informational page from the companion.
The companion stores certain technical information locally for its interface, including connection status, language, number of rules, and some error information.
The companion does not read passwords saved in the browser, the content of web pages, or the browsing history list. It does not send the list of configured domains to DrakaShield servers.
The companion's use of information received from Google APIs complies with Chrome Web Store user data policies, including Limited Use requirements.
8. Parental controls and use by children
Parental controls allow a parent or guardian to configure domain restrictions on the computer.
The configured rules are stored and used locally to apply the selected restrictions. The parent or guardian can modify them in DrakaShield settings.
9. Support and communications
When a user contacts support, they may provide information needed to handle their request, including contact details, a description of the issue, or a screenshot.
This information is used to respond to the request. We recommend that users not send passwords or unnecessary personal information when contacting support.
10. Sharing of information
DrakaShield may disclose information when necessary to provide requested services, process a payment, respond to a support request, or comply with a legal obligation.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Data used locally by the Chrome companion to apply parental control rules is not sold and is not transmitted to DrakaShield servers.
11. Retention and deletion
The customer name and IP address associated with a license are retained for license management and protection for as long as necessary for those purposes and to meet applicable obligations.
Protection settings, logs, reports, and quarantine information are stored locally on the computer according to the features used.
Users can manage some of this information directly in DrakaShield, including quarantined items, exclusions, and parental control rules.
The Chrome companion can be uninstalled from Chrome's Extensions page. Removing the Windows application or companion may leave some files or settings on the computer; users may contact support for help removing them.
12. Security
DrakaShield uses measures intended to protect the operation of its products and the information required for their functions. Users also help protect their devices by keeping Windows, Chrome, and DrakaShield up to date and limiting access to their computers.
13. Your questions and requests
For any questions about this policy or the processing of information related to DrakaShield products, please contact us through our page:
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, depending on the circumstances and applicable laws. Deleting information required for license management may affect how the license works.
14. Changes to this policy
DrakaShield may update this policy to reflect changes to its products, practices, or applicable requirements. The last updated date will be shown at the beginning of the policy.
